Vascular surgery

Head of the department – Ignatyev Igor Mikhailovich – Doctor of Medical Science, professor, author of range of monographs, training manuals, member of Russian society of angiologists and vascular surgeons, Association of phlebologists of Russia, member of European Society on vascular surgery.

Patients with pathology of nearly all sections of vascular bed are healed in the department. Planned and urgent corrective surgery on vessels are performed there. The department renders emergency angiosurgical aid twice a week (on Mondays and Saturdays) 24 hours a day on Kazan city.

There are 8 surgeons at the department, most of which have considerable work experience in vascular surgery field, 2 Candidates of Medical Sciences. Personnel of the department carry out active research work in different fields of vascular surgery. It is planned to maintain one doctorate thesis and 2 Ph.D. theses. The results of scientific research are regularly published in central magazines. The personnel of the department takes active part in work of Russian and foreign conferences on vascular surgery.

Kinds of surgeries

In the centre of vascular surgery they perform most complex operations on vessels: in cases of brachiocephalic arteria pathology (carotid endarterectomy, prosthetics of carotid artery, carotic-subclavian, artery-carotic bypass), arterial involvement (resection and prosthetics in cases of abdominal aortic aneurysm, artery bifemoral bypass) and visceral renal artery (celiac axis decompression, prosthetics, endarterectomy, bypass, renal artery prosthetics), extremities arteria pathology (bypass and prosthetics operations), in cases of deep venous thrombosis (thrombectomy, kava-filters installation), corrective-plastic operations on deep veins (bypass, valve functional recovery).

Preferred direction of the department is application of low-traumatic, miniinvasive surgeries. So, for the first time in Russian Federation it is planned to perform laparoscopic operations on abdominal aorta, to carry out operations from mini-approaches.

Miniinvasive technologies are very extensively used in cases of vein pathology. These surgeries with application of optoelectronics, scleroobliteration under ultrasound control, elimination of varicose vein from separate skin centesis (Muller method). There is phlebology room in the department, where full complex of diagnostics and treatment of veins and lymph gland diseases is available. All modern kinds of sclerotherapy in cases of varicose disease are performed there. Healing of lymphatic edemas is carried out by means of hand massage and pneumatic compression.

The most advanced methods of treatment of steno-occlusioning vessels diseases – ballooning angioplasty and stenting are widely used. One of the recent trends is stenting of occlusioning involvement of arterial veins.
